On April 23, 2025, at the Shanghai Auto Show, GAC Group officially introduced the first technologically aesthetic pickup concept car, the GAC PICKUP 01. As the first product launched by GAC Commercial Vehicle, this model not only marks GAC’s official entry into the pickup truck field, but also redefines the multi-scenario value of pickup trucks with the concept of “all-round pickup truck”. Pickup trucks have always occupied an important place in the global automobile market. Data shows that annual pickup truck sales worldwide have exceeded 6 million units, accounting for about 20% of total vehicle sales. However, annual pickup sales in the Chinese market are only around 300,000 units. In the face of this “blue ocean”, GAC Group chose to open the door to the pickup truck market with GAC PICKUP 01, relying on its global strategy and full industrial chain capabilities. The exterior design of GAC PICKUP 01 breaks the rigid style of traditional pickup trucks and adopts a carefully crafted facet shape instead. With the combination of lines and full surfaces, it presents a visual language where power and technology are combined. The long body proportions not only enhance the practicality of outdoor scenes, but also give the vehicle a measured and solid temperament. GAC has created the GAIA (GAC Adaptive Intelligent Architecture) intelligent adaptive platform based on a load-bearing architecture to meet users’ different usage scenarios. The platform can flexibly respond to complex environments such as urban, off-road and cargo environments by dynamically adjusting the suspension, power output and driving mode. At the same time, another highlight of the GAC PICKUP 01 is its intelligence advantage. The new car will be equipped with an advanced driving assistance system that supports special scenario modes such as intelligent towing and narrow-road driving. The interior is more oriented towards passenger car comfort, making the pickup truck more comfortable. In addition to domestic growth, GAC Lingcheng is also focusing on overseas markets. Based on in-depth research on the global market, GAC PICKUP 01 will focus on four main markets, namely Australia, Saudi Arabia, Chile and Mexico, in the first stage.
